Commands and permissions

Global chat, private message, and reload commands, and the permissions that control them.

Commands

CommandWhat it doesPermission
/gchat <message>Sends a message to global chatThe permission setting (none by default)
/gchatTurns global chat mode on or offThe permission setting
/shout <message>Same as /gchatThe permission setting
/nmsg <player> <message>Sends a private message. Alias: /nmsprivate-messages.permission (none by default)
/nr <message>Replies to the last player you messaged, or who messaged you. Alias: /nreplyprivate-messages.permission
nshoutreloadReloads config.yml, discord.yml, and the language files. See reloadingnshout.reload
  • The global chat and private message commands are for players only. nshoutreload also works in the console, without the /.
  • A chat message that starts with ! is the same as /gchat. See chat prefix and toggle mode.
  • The private message commands exist only when private-messages.enabled is true.
  • You can rename the commands in config.yml: commands.aliases, private-messages.aliases, and private-messages.reply-aliases. The reload command name is fixed.

Permissions

PermissionEffect
nshout.reloadRun nshoutreload in game
nshout.formattingUse colors and styles in messages. This is the default value of formatting-permission
nshout.vanish.seeSee and message vanished players with /nmsg, including tab completion

Two more permissions are set by you in config.yml. Both are empty by default, which means everyone has access:

  • permission: needed to use global chat, for example nshout.use.
  • private-messages.permission: needed to use private messages.

The default config.yml also uses these example permissions. You can rename or remove them:

PermissionUsed for
nshout.name.admin, nshout.name.vipValues of {custom_name}
nshout.rank.admin, nshout.rank.mvp, nshout.rank.vipValues of {custom_rank}
nshout.cooldown.admin, nshout.cooldown.vipGlobal chat cooldowns of 0 and 7.5 seconds
nshout.pm.cooldown.adminNo private message cooldown

Permissions come from your permission plugin. With LuckPerms on the proxy, for example:

lpv user Alex permission set nshout.reload true
lpv group vip permission set nshout.rank.vip true

On BungeeCord, the LuckPerms command is lpb instead of lpv.

Differences on BungeeCord

  • Players without nshout.reload who run nshoutreload get BungeeCord's own "no permission" message.
  • commands.register-all-as-commands makes no difference: every alias is its own command.
  • If you rename a command to msg, tell, or w, use BungeeCord build 2016 or newer. See command names.
  • With Paper backends, players on 1.19.1 to 1.20.4 clients can be disconnected after using any proxy command. See signed chat.
